Lowell Mathematics Society (formerly Lowell Math Club) is a place for anyone interested in math and/or problem solving and wanting to expand their knowledge in it while meeting people with the same drive. Each year we compete individually and as a team in a wide range of math competitions, including the prestigious AMC 10/12 (American Mathematics Competition), the statewide CAML (California Math League), and other regional tournaments like the Stanford and Berkeley Math Tournaments. We highly encourage anyone enthusiastic in math to join and compete along with your friends. Doing well in these competitions are an exceptional boost to your college apps as many of our former members have gone to top public and private colleges including Harvard, UC Berkeley, UCLA, etc!
To prep for competitions, we do weekly practice and lectures on problem solving tips. Most importantly, no previous math competition experience is necessary! This year we’re starting our lectures from the ground up to build a solid problem-solving foundation for all our members. We also have qualified peer tutoring in literally every single high school math subject, including SAT/ACT.
We have recently reactivated Lowell’s Mu Alpha Theta chapter. Inductees can receive formal recognition for their hard work.
Meeting dates: Every Wednesday after school in Room S104. Feel free to just drop in!
