MEET THE MEMBERS OF
LOWELL STUDENT ASSOCIATION
SBC President: Yu Ling Wu
<----Hey reader, that's me flirting with you through a picture because you're just so attractive!! (Haha...is it awkward here or just me?) I've been on LSA for three years as 2014 Class President, and will be going into my fourth and final year as SBC President (YAY!). When I'm not busy living at Lowell, I spend my time impersonating my mother and waiting outside venues to try and meet Lady GaGa. I ran for presidency because I wanted to have my voice heard in the Lowell community. As president, my priority is to make sure the students' voices are heard and represented. I oversee all of LSA and keep everyone organized and on task. I want to reach out to everyone, so if you don't miss me in the hallways or if you accidentally stomp on me, don't forget to say hi! I have new and daring ideas for this year, and I'm ready to make a change and pump up the spirit! It is the best feeling that after weeks, months, (and yes even years!!), one event you helped plan and put together can bring so much joy and happiness to my friends and fellow classmates. Along with the rest of LSA, I hope to make sure Lowell has the most legen--wait for it---dary year, so legendary we can inspire the future generations of Lowell-lites! |
SBC Vice President: Krista Apolonio
I joined LSA because I saw this position as a great opportunity to meet new people, be creative, and give back to the school I (basically) spend half my life at. After years of wanting to be on LSA, this year, I finally got the guts to go for it! My courage definitely paid off. I've had a few years of experience with student government prior to this year. Outside of school, I enjoy watching Giants games and exploring San Francisco. I hope I can make you all proud this year. And I would like to thank all of you for your support!! I genuinely appreciate it! This year, my goal is to work along with my fellow LSA members to refine annual events by ruling out the disadvantages and strengthening the advantages from previous years. It is also one of my goals to assist all board members to the best of my ability with any of their duties when needed. Most importantly, I want to build and maintain a strong relationship with and among all LSA members to ensure a smooth and memorable year for the entire student body. |
SBC Election Commissioner: Dana Ng
Oh hello hello! I'm Dana Ng, your 2013-2014 SBC Election Commissioner. I am currently a senior, major foodie, tree hugger, music geek, and incessant cute animal video watcher. I love my Lowell community, and I would to love contribute as much as possible to raise school spirit and better our student body. Though this is my first year on LSA, I am not afraid to put my utmost effort into supporting and reaching out to all of my fellow Lowellites. As Election Commissioner, my main job is to organize all elections related to LSA (Freshman and Spring Elections) and encourage the student body to run and vote for these elections. My goal for this year is to help pump up that hidden Cardinal spirit in all of us and assist my fellow LSA lovelies with organizing a life-changing year. If you have any questions about student government/the elections process, have a word (or many more) that you are dying to share with someone, or in need of a hug/advice, don't be shy to approach me in the hallways--I absolutely love meeting new people. Lastly, I'm so excited for the 2013-2014 school year so brace yourself for upcoming mind-blowingly awesome school activities and events! :) |
SBC Events Coordinator: Jessica Weiss
email: [email protected] Greetings Lowell High School! My name is Jessica Weiss, and I'm proud to be serving you all as your events coordinator for this year. The events coordinator is the master of ceremonies at all major student events, as well as the main planner. I also will be acting as a liaison between the students and the administration regarding events, concerns, and ideas. This year, I hope to use your feedback in the event planning process, as well as your ideas for new events. PLEASE do not hesitate to utilize the Contact Us/Suggestions box to leave anything on your mind, and you can do it anonymously too. I also hope to create a greater transparency between the administration and student body, so ideas can be communicated more efficiently and your feedback could be taken with greater consideration. Other than that, don't hesitate to come up to me in school with questions or anything, as I try not to bite. I ran for this position because I love this school, the administration, and the student body more than anything else. You all help make Lowell a special community where I feel like I belong and am able to succeed. This school and the people who attend have sculpted me into the ambitious, confident person I am today, as well as provided me with priceless opportunities and experiences that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I believe that the only way I can somewhat return the favor is by using all the skills this community has provided me with and dedicating myself to the work of serving those who have given me with so much. Being in LSA to me does not mean you are the boss and call the shots. An LSA member is elected BY the student body, therefore they are a servant TO the student body, working to make sure your needs are being addressed. With that, I'd like to conclude by saying get ready for an AMAZING year, thank you Lowell for granting my wish to serve you, and I am overjoyed to be at your service. |

2013-2014 will be my third year on LSA. Over the past couple years, I kept pushing myself to do new and challenging activities. I call this “doing hard things,” which led me to run as treasurer in my freshman year and now as Club Coordinator. In my new role in LSA, I plan to further improve everything about clubs at Lowell, including food days and service projects. However, I need everyone’s help from Lowell to make this a successful year for clubs! Also feel free to check out the club section of this website!! |

SBC Public Relations: Katie Hwang
Katie Hwang 4/17/96 The girl with the cheesy grin usually laughing at anyone and anything or mouthing the words to a song as if her life depended on it. I am honored to be SBC's public relations and I vow to decorate the halls with spirit, pizazz, and sass. With my partner in crime, jasmine toy, I promise to create art worth that double take. I hope that this year we can help create an even more closely knit community at lowell, and leave our cheeky mark for future Lowell students. So lucky to be part of the LSA family for a second year ^__^ |
SBC Co-Public Relations: Jasmine Toy
Hi, my name's Jasmine and I'm a senior at Lowell High. One of the most important things about life to me is being able to love what you do, so I aspire to do the best I can and be the happiest I can be. I have a strong passion for all things related to art and style, and my greatest moments are born when I'm laughing. If I could meet someone famous: JLaw. I hope that the fact that I admire her sense of humor, taste, and style says a lot about myself that I can't fully express. I'm really excited to be on SBC this year because the people are great, our school is great, and this year is going to be…great. |
2014 President: Leila Chew
Hi guys! I've been on LSA for the past three years and I'm excited to lead this year as senior class president. I joined LSA because I've always found it important to take an active role in my school and community. Having the opportunity to enrich our high school experience by planning fun events and raising money for our class has been super rewarding for me, and it's definitely what I love most about Lowell. This year is a huge year, our senior year, and my board and I have a ton of exciting things planned. So hopefully despite the struggles of college apps and senioritis, we're able to bond as a class and have a fantastic last year at Lowell :)! |
2014 Vice President: Maria Lim
Hi! (= I'm Maria and I'm your 2014 Vice President. I love sleeping, eating, photobombing strangers, taking walks, and baking. I'm addicted to boba......so much so that I will drink it even if it tastes 'nasty' just because I haven't had it in a while. I consume more avocados and seaweed than a normal person should. If you feed me bananas or pickles....or anything that has touched a banana or pickle, I will run away and secretly hate you forever. I may seem quiet and nice, but get to know me(or don't)...and you'll learn I'm a little bit crazy. I love meeting new people though, so don't be shy! I decided to run for LSA because I thought it would be a good way to input my ideas to help create the best senior year we could possibly have. What did I have to lose? Go hard or go home, right? Hah. This year on LSA I hope to help plan many fun events to bring our class together. I want people to remember these times at Lowell and have many fun stories to tell their future children. |
2014 Secretary: Alexandra Jensen
This is my third year as 2014’s Secretary. As Secretary, I take notes during our discussions for all of our important upcoming events. I’ve also worked with my wonderful board to put on events to raise money for our class. I ran for secretary again this year because I have really enjoyed the position for the last two years and am excited to help make senior year amazing for our class! With our new LSA website, I’ll try my best to post notes from our important meetings so that you can all stay updated too! We’ve worked really hard to raise money over the past few years and now is the time that we get to put it towards more fun and unforgettable senior events. I hope that everyone will join in on our events to make this a great senior year! |
2014 Treasurer: Mishal Al-asfour
This is my second year at Lowell and my first as a member of LSA, and I’m so excited to join my classmates on the 2014 Board! I ran for Treasurer with the hopes of getting more in-touch with fellow students and of helping to make my senior year memorable for my classmates and myself. We have so many fun events planned for this year, but in order for them to turn out as awesome as we hope, the 2014 Board and I must plan and raise the necessary funds. I’m looking forward to a great senior year! If you have any questions about events or would just like to meet me, please feel free to approach me at school or add me on Facebook. |
2014 Public Relations: Lori Chinn
This is my fourth year as 2014's Public Relations. As PR i've created posters and advertisements as well as worked together with my board to host events and raise money for our class. This year I ran for PR because I love drawing and want to help the 2014 class have the best senior year. Since freshman year we have raised tons of money and i have grown to love being involved at Lowell. This is the year we finally get to spoil our class with the money we've raised and i would not want to miss it. This year on LSA I hope that we can help the students and provide for them the care and fun that they deserve. |
2014 Historian: Erica Lei
Good morning fellow Lowell-lites, Erica here, your one and only source to the moded and fantastic photos of the class of 2014. Just kidding! Hi, I am the 2014 Historian and I have been for the last 4 years. I ran for historian freshman year because I wanted to be apart of LSA and wanted to be involved in the class of 2014. As historian, I hope to document all the events that the class of 2014 shares and hope to rally spirit among the class. Aside from LSA, I enjoy taking pictures, mostly portraits (I literally have a whole album of Yu Ling on my computer), going out on food adventures, and obsessing over Gossip Girl. I am easy to befriend and will always have a smile on my face; don't be afraid to ask me to have your picture taken! Until we meet...you know you love me, xoxo Erica. |
2015 President: Tammy Nguyen
What I like to do in my spare time is play tennis, read romance novels, watch Hong Kong dramas, and eat a bunch of junk food. I am obsessed with the color green and I’m sure you can spot me a mile away with my mint-colored skinny jeans. As President, I oversee the other 5 members of my board and usually finalize everything. Initially, I ran for LSA because I like to be involved in school matters and I know that I can make a difference. Winning the presidential election was actually pretty scary because I didn’t know if I was ready to lead 5 other people, even if I was sophomore class Vice President at the time. With an ambitious mindset, I know that I can make this year really awesome with the assistance of my board. |
2015 Vice President: Brienne Hong
Heeyyyy theeree wondrous beings of Lowell High School! I'm Brienne Hong, and I get the great pleasure of serving the class of 2015 as its 2015 Vice President. Before I was VP, I was 2015's Historian (that means I was able to closely observe all of you and take pictures without it being creepy #bestjobever). Being Historian has been one of the greatest experience I could have because I feel that I really got to know my class. Getting to know the people of the 2015 class on a more personal level, allowed me to learn more of how our class was and what it wanted, so I decided to run for 2015 Vice President in order to take this knowledge and put it to good use. I love my class more than anything, so I just want to help to make their years at Lowell A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, like they very much deserve. Thank you for your time! iloveyou. what? kaybye. |
2015 Treasurer: Jocelyn Chan
Hello there! First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by on this page! Visiting this page means A LOT to not only me but everyone on LSA. So thank you very much, kind visitor. :) Now, on to my biography! As a mini technician and a volunteer worker, I felt the need to contribute more to my community and ultimately decided to run for student government. I was fully aware of the responsibilities that I would hold as a class officer and was determined to become a part of LSA. Now that I'm here, I'm extremely thrilled to introduce fresh ideas for events that have never been seen at Lowell! Bringing something unique would not only boost our school spirit but also enrich our high school experiences. I hope that we have an awesome 2013-2014 school year, and I look forward to spending my time helping my fellow Lowellites enjoy high school to infinity and beyond! |

My name is Marisa and I am a junior of 16 years of age. This will be my second year as PR, and I am terribly excited to once again serve the wonderful class of 2015. I have a great love for visual arts and have been studying since 5ever ago (10 years). When I’m not doing school junk or art-ing, I enjoy rolling down grassy hills, crying my eyes out while watching anime, and drafting plans for the end of the world. Anyways, thanks for reading, and DFTBA. |

Hey guys, I'm Alec, your new class of 2015 Historian this school year and I look forward to getting to know all of you better. As historian I want to capture every moment with our class together through my camera lens; and not just the special events but the little moments we want to remember in our everyday life. If I can be of service to you in anyway just give me a shout, I'm here to help you at any time. I want to help. In middle school, I participated in the peer mediation program as well as the student council. I've also participated in multiple china ambassador exchange programs so I hope to utilize all these leadership experiences while serving on the LSA 2015 council. By being a part of student government, I could use it to raise pride for the Lowell community, and in essence, make high school a more memorable time for everyone! I also wanted to be a part of something that would let me work with other people, and LSA gives me that. One of my favorite things to do is make music and playing the piano. Ever since I was a kid I was inspired many classic composers, such as Beethoven, to become a good musician. And up to this day is still my major hobby! I ran for LSA because I wanted to give back to the Lowell community. Being a division of LSA, I want to be a part of something greater than myself. I want to form close bonds with students around me and within the class. |
2016 Historian: Kris Hui
My name is Kris and I am a proud Lowell Cardinal! I serve as the class of 2016's historian. My positional job is to take pictures at and keep track of major events throughout the school year! Also, I am a dedicated student and enjoy working with other devoted people to achieve a common goal which is to help out the class and school as a whole. Other than being apart of LSA, I spend a good amount of time playing volleyball. It's hands down my favorite sport. I play all year round with the school team in the fall, club in the spring till mid summer, and then beach for the rest of the summer. Practices at least 2-3 times a week easily make me weeks busy while I have to also manage my school work and friends! Other than volleyball I like to just chillax. Sitting at home watching movies and food basically my everyday lifestyle! I have an obsession with my laptop and phone and food is literally my best friend ever.
