Escape committee is very similar to Prom Committee. Escape is put together by the Sophomore class board, and it consists of 5 to 9 people, who are in charge of putting together a dance.
Escape traditionally been in charge of throwing an off-campus dance at a night club. However, times are a-changing! They're thinking outside the box of just dances...think roller skating, fun runs, concerts, and more! Stay tuned to see what they do this year.
In the meantime, they must fundraise in order to pay for things like the DJ, venue, food and drinks, and decorations. Just like prom committee, everything is entirely up to them, although they will also work very closely with the class board to plan this dance. Since Escape is open to all grades unlike Prom, they must accommodate for a bigger group of people.
What does the Senior Boat Committee do?
Senior Boat is a yearly dance hosted on a boat around Halloween/fall. Traditionally, this dance is for Seniors only, with the exception of guests with a Lowell Senior sponsor. This dance usually has a theme, and acts as a costume party for the senior class. The Senior Boat committee is in charge of planning this class wide dance in less than a year.
They must fundraise in order to pay for things like the DJ, boat, food and drinks, and decorations. Just like prom committee, everything is entirely up to them, although they will also work very closely with the class board to plan this dance.
How do I join Escape/Boat Committee?
To get onto an Escape/Boat committee you must go through an application process. In order to be on a class's escape committee, you must be in that specific class. For example: if you are part of 2015 you may not be apart of the 2014 Escape Committee. With that being said, there is no other criteria! All applicants names will be crossed off applications so there are no special biases. The class board will put up their specified forms and requirements for those looking to apply. After you send in an application, there is approximately a one to two week wait period where the whole board takes time to review each and every application carefully. The board then narrows down the group to a handful of people they want to give interviews to. They will either assign interview times or allow the applicants to choose. After the interview process there is another small wait period of three to five days. Finally, once the committee is decided, the results will be sent out either through email or posted on a list on the LSA stalker boards.
