Meet the Officers!
President Justine Orgel
Hi everyone! My name is Justine and I’m thrilled to be your Shield and Scroll President! Apart from my presidential duties, I am a CSF tutor, vice president of the Women in Science Club, and a member of the Bay Area Student Activists Club. At Lowell, you can usually find me (or not find me) sitting in our hidden hallways (there are more than you think) or drinking any caffeinated beverage other than coffee. Outside of school, you might run into me at the Academy of Sciences or the Contemporary Jewish Museum. You might notice that one of our board members and I share a last name. Yes, we’re twins. If you have any questions about Shield and Scroll, please feel free to reach out! I don’t think you’ll ever confuse me with my twin. |
Elections Vice President Katherine Fu
Hey guys, I’m Katherine and I am so excited to be your Elections Vice President! Aside from Shield and Scroll, I am the Vice President of JNHS and a member of CSF, Heart in Motion, and peer mentoring. Outside of school, I work with my best friend for a charity organization that we started called Health for Homeless and coach for Girls on the Run. When I manage to have free time, I love to eat out with friends or relax by listening to music and drinking tea (yes, I’m THAT person who doesn’t like coffee). Anyways, feel free to ask me if you have any questions! |
Records Vice President Brandon Stites
Hey everyone! I’m Brandon Stites, your Records Vice President. Aside from Shield and Scroll, I’m the designated money counter for JNHS, an avid Hapa Club member, and a below average distance runner on track. Outside of school, I lead tours of the Chinatown alleyways for curious tourists and less interested college students. Most of my free time is spent exploring the jungles of Minecraft or jungling in Summoners Rift. I am also a Star Wars enthusiast so if you ever want to recite lines from Revenge of the Sith or have any questions, or concerns, don’t be scared to approach me. “Fear is a path to the dark side.” |
Treasury Vice President Sydney Geronimo
Hi everyone! My name is Sydney Geronimo and I’m super thrilled to be Shield and Scroll Treasury Vice President! When I’m not counting money or ordering beanies, you will likely find me hanging out with friends, driving around the city, eating at the beach, or playing golf. That being said, another extracurricular of mine includes being co-captain for Lowell’s Varsity Girls Golf team. In addition, I am a founder of the UCSF Junior Ambassadors Club and the PreDental Society. If we don’t share similar interests in golf or dentistry, I am enthusiastic to have conversations about boba or memes. A fun (or should I say “funny”) fact about me is that I laugh a lot. But the most important fact to know about me is that I enjoy meeting new people, so feel free to reach out to me! Anyways, thank you for coming to my TED talk! |
Secretary Lilly Lakritz
Hello! My name is Lilly Lakritz and I am one of your Shield and Scroll secretaries. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, abusing REI’s return policy, convincing people that it will be fun to swim in 55 degree water (cold), and baking. I also spend way too much time on my couch watching romcoms while silently judging all the actors and plot decisions. If I’m not doing any of the aforementioned activities I’m probably taking photos of my chickens and trying to figure out their social hierarchy. If you have any questions about mod opportunities please don’t hesitate to contact me (the chickens can wait). |
Secretary Anna Orgel
Hello everyone! My name is Anna, and I am one of the Shield and Scroll Secretaries. If you already read Justine’s bio, I am the aforementioned twin. Aside from Shield and Scroll, at school I am the president and founder of the Lowell Women in Science club, a CSF tutor, and a member of various other eclectic clubs. I am probably the weirdest board member, so feel free to talk to me or ask me about anything strange and fascinating. I am a STEM fiend (particularly chemistry and physics) and lover of all things science fiction. If I am not in class or anxiously studying for a test, I can be found behind Lowell foraging for edible plants, annoying my friends with hour long physics lectures, or reading up on chemical processes that I can use in my makeshift lab at home. It’s possible that you may run into me outside of school AKA in the wild, doing whatever cryptic activities I partake in in my free time, though probably unlikely given quarantine and my already hermit-like nature. |
