Prom Committee is a group of 7-9 people who are put together by the class board to throw one of the proms (either Junior or Senior).
How do I join Prom Committee?
To get onto a prom committee you must go through an application process. In order to be on a class's prom committee, you must be in that specific class. For example: if you are part of 2015 you may not be apart of the 2014 Prom Committees. With that being, there is no other criteria! All applicants names will be crossed off applications so there are no special biases. The class board will put up their specified forms and requirements for those looking to apply. After you send in an application, there is approximately a one to two week wait period where the whole board takes time to review each and every application carefully. The board then narrows down the group to a handful of people they want to give interviews to. They will either assign interview times or allow the applicants to choose. After the interview process there is another small wait period of three to five days. Finally, once the committee is decided, the results will be sent out either through email or posted on a list on the LSA stalker boards.
What does Prom Committee do?
Prom committee is completely responsible for the planning that goes into a prom. The committee must fund raise money to pay for necessities such as the DJ, venue, catering, and decorations. They are in charge of all details of prom including the theme, name, and much much more. Basically, the committee gets to create the whole prom for their class from scratch, work together and throw a night to remember. For two years they will work closely with the class board to plan the dance. Prom committee is also in charge of contacting the DJ, finding and booking a venue, taking care of all contracts, and deciding on all the details!
