Student Activities Director Mrs. TorresHello! I am Mrs. Torres, the Student Activities Director, formerly known as Ms. Guina. (I was married over the summer and am still settling into my new name.) Although my role is abbreviated SAD, I am far from it! I love working at Lowell and think I have the best job in the world. Besides helping the LSA student leaders plan, organize, and create events to bring the Lowell community together, I can be found teaching English. The best way to get ahold of me is to find me in person during one of my free blocks (2, 5 and 7) in the English office, room 209, or the Cave, room 80A. If you can’t find me I can be reached by email at guinaa@sfusd.edu. If you’re looking to just chitchat, know that I love soccer, pigs, traveling, reading, the Giants, and the Warriors. Go Cardinals!

SBC President Almarie-Rose MataHello! My name is Almarie-Rose Mata (Alma for short) and I'm incredibly humbled to have been elected as your 2018-2019 SBC President! This is my second and final year on student government, and I couldn't have asked for a better family to be a part of. Last year as SBC Community Liaison, I've had the opportunity to work closely with so many inspiring people both inside and outside of Lowell. The immense amount of love they show through their work and advocacy for their community encourages me to do the same. This year, I hope to continue building community at Lowell through our LSA events and increase transparency between the student body, student government, and administration.

SBC Vice President Jonah NascimentoHey y'all! My name is Jonah Nascimento, and I am thrilled to serve as your 2018-2019 SBC VP. Giving back to my community is something I've always wanted to do, and I believe this position is the perfect platform for me. Last year as Club Coordinator, I was able to gain a new perspective from many student leaders at Lowell. This has enabled me to be a more representative leader of our student body. My main role as VP is to be the voice to your ideas, so don't ever feel hesitant to approach me in the hallways or contact me if you need anything. I'm a nice guy! I am super into sports, so if you can't find me in the cave (I practically live there) I'm probably dragonboating at Lake Merced, wrestling some sweaty bois, or running in circles at the track.
I sincerely look forward to having an amazing school year with each and every one of you! Go Cardinals! Email: jonahnascimento@gmail.com Facebook: Jonah Nascimento Instagram: @jonah.nascimento |
SBC Elections Commissioner Kaye ChinHellooo everyone! My name is Kaye Chin and I’m your SBC Elections Commissioner!

SBC Secretary Katelyn WuEllo Everyone!!!!!! My name is Katelyn Wu and I am so pumped to be your Student Body Council Secretary. I came to Lowell with an open mind and wasn't really friends with anyone. Freshmen year, I just tried my best academically and went straight home afterschool to do homework. It was not until last year aka my junior year where I finally got myself to be more involved with school by joining clubs. I've always wanted to give back to the community so I told myself that you shouldn't hold anything back for senior year or else you'll end up having regrets. It's my last year at Lowell and I want to make it count. I enjoy having organized notes hence why I like my position very matcha. ;)

SBC Treasurer Jacquline RuanHiiii!! My name is Jacquline Ruan and I’m so excited to be your SBC Treasurer!! This is my first year on LSA, but I have a lottt of experience working with our school accountant and organizing and creating budget spreadsheets as I have been one of The Lowell’s business managers since my sophomore year and was our junior prom committee’s treasurer last year, so don’t worry! My job is to work with SBC (duh!) but also with the rest of LSA to ensure that dances and school events are funded. Welp, a bit about me: I loveeee dark chocolate like you have no idea how much I loveeee darkkk chocolate. Not any kind of chocolate, but darkkk chocolate. I like laughing hahahahahaha cuz it just feels good. it’s the easiest(but sadly, the longest) way to getting those abs I always dreamed of. But laughing just feels good too. If you see me in the halls, just say hii, I might not be smiling right at that moment cuz ya’know we’re at Lowell and like sometimes you kinda feel like a zombie, but if you do say hi, I’ll for sure break into a grinnn(ok tbh I’m kinda blind tho, so I’ll be squinting tryna see who’s waving). If you ever need anything, you can email me at jaruan2@gmail.com. See ya around!!

SBC Community Liaison Evan ChanHey Everyone!! It’s so exciting to be able to spend my final year here at Lowell as your SBC Community Liaison! This year, I will be acting as your representative on the School Site Council (SSC), Student Advisory Council (SAC), PTSA, and of course - LSA and SBC! Apart from the several outlets in which I’ll be representing you all, I’ll also be organizing this year’s annual Social Awareness Week, where I hope to not only educate on societal issues and solutions, but to also create dialogues as a school community so that we can work towards greater collective understanding and empathy.

SBC Club Coordinator Fion HoHellooooo,
I'm Fion Ho, Lowell's favorite introvert. When I came into Lowell, I came with a bad attitude. I hated Lowell, so I never participated in clubs and sports. After sophomore year, I felt extreme fomo (fear of missing out) and I decided to try out for the volleyball team. I loved it so much that from there, I became more courageous and I joined a lot of clubs. A LOT. I met so many amazing people and I somehow managed to snag some leadership positions in my clubs. And now, here I am. I'm so excited for this school year, and I'm looking forward to serving you guys as Club Coord through planning co-curricular days, updating this website, and helping you guys create new clubs! |

SBC Public Relations Sheena LeongHey friends! My name is Sheena Kanon Leong, and I'm your SBC Public Relations Officer! I’m responsible for publicizing all the exciting events through hand-drawn/digitally designed banners, posters, fliers and tickets. I’ll also be managing Lowell’s social media accounts to keep you updated about upcoming events, so keep an eye out for that ;)
Here’s a bit about me: I’m Japanese, Chinese & Portuguese, and fluent in Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin and English! I also travelled to Ecuador with an awesome group of people, and it inspired me to start studying Spanish, but we’ll see how that goes… |
SBC Co-Public Relations Joyce ChenHello everyone! I’m Joyce and I’ll be your 2018-2019 SBC Co-Public Relations Officer! Basically, what my job entails is to create art and advertisements for almost everything school related: from the banners and tickets for dances, to the flyers and menus for Winter Faire and Spring Fest. This year will be my third, and sadly my final, year serving as a member of LSA. While it’ll be bittersweet, I can not wait to work with all of LSA to make this year successful and memorable for all of the student body.
During my free time, I'll say I'll be swamped with college apps, seeing as it is my senior year, but to be truthful, I'll probably be procrastinating until the deadlines are around the corner. Ok but seriously, I like drawing and anything art related, which should go without saying, photography, working out, and hanging out with my friends. Strong cups of coffee, oolong milk teas, and good food is the key to my heart. I've also been told I have a really bad case of RBF but don't let that deter you from saying hi in the halls!
