10/11/2015

This year, we've taken a huge step in making Spirit Week Class Battles fair and un-rigged with a new scoring system that we want to share with you here!

You all put an incredible amount of energy and spirit into this big week, and you deserve to see the results of it!***

So, here it is!  the offish spirit week results:

but wait, how does this scoring work?

Dance

4 teachers are given a rubric with which to score each class’s dance. The maximum amount of base points a dance can receive is 250. In addition to the base points, the dance with the most points receives 50 additional points, the 2nd best dance receives 30 additional points, the 3rd best receives 20 additional points, and finally the 4th best receives 10 points.

Hallways

4 teachers are each given a rubric with which to score each class’s hallway. Like the dance, the most base points a hallway can receive is 250. In addition to the base points, the hallway with the most points receives 50 additional points, the 2nd best hallway receives 30 additional points, the 3rd best dance receives 20 additional points, and finally the 4th best dance receives 10 points.

Rally Games

There are 3 different rally games- the Noodle Game, Skin the Snake, and Catch the Cardinal. In both the Noodle Game and Skin the Snake, there are 3 rounds  of each. In each round, two classes battle against each other. In the 3rd and final round,  the winners of the previous rounds go against each other. The class that wins the game receives 100 points, the 1st runner up (2nd place) receives 80 points, and the 2nd runner up receives 60 points. In Catch the Cardinal, the class that receives the most flags receives 100 points, the 1st runner up receives 80 points, the 2nd runner up receives 60 points, and the 3rd runner up receives 50 points.

Spirit Points

Throughout spirit week, when students come dressed to the catwalk to claim their goodies, they earn a spirit point for their class. Each spirit point is worth 1 point.

If all of this still does not quench your suspicions of cheating, we understand.
The world's a harsh place.
Good thing your school is out of this world.

Check out our scanned evidence of the Spirit Week scoring documents HERE

And as always, let us know what you're thinking in the comments!

***Actually, the results of Spirit Week are not in the points at all. They're in the bonding, the excitement, the fun, the PROCESS of Spirit Week, not the numerical results(:
